New businesses Serenity Tanning Studio and Street Talk Barbers open on King Street, Southwell
Two new businesses have opened their doors under the same roof.
Serenity Tanning Studio and Street Talk Barbers on King Street, Southwell, are now open and ready to welcome customers.
The endeavour was the brainchild of Paul McCarroll and Sarah Bates, who wanted to combine their talents and bring a great new service to the town centre.
Paul has worked as a barber for over 30 years and learned the trade from his dad in the family shop, McCarrolls Barbers, which first opened in 1971.
After decades of cutting hair in Southwell and as the business attracted a dedicated clientele and continued to grow, finally the decision was made to move into a larger premises, and rebrand as Street Talk Barbers.
After the move, the couple soon realised that the space was big enough to house two businesses under one roof, and so the idea of bringing tanning to Southwell was born.
Together, Paul and Sarah spent three months designing and getting everything ready, before officially opening earlier this month.
Paul said: “We both have a lot of experience and want to provide a great service.
“When my dad first started out he was the only barber in town for many years and built up a reputation. I have customers that have been coming to me for years too.
“I think a lot of damage has been done to the high street up and down the country, but Southwell is lucky in that we live in a little bubble.
“We have a lot of small businesses here and people here are very protective — so, it’s been really good so far and we’ve had a lot of support.”
Street Talk Barbers aim to create a welcoming environment for all ages, whether it is a teenager looking for a trendy modern style, or a loyal customer looking for something a little more traditional.
Customers at Serenity Tanning Studio are able to book sessions on stand up or lay down tanning beds, with package deals available.
