Double yellow lines likely to be painted on all roads at Fernwood Business Park after complaints of HGVs parking overnight
Double yellow lines are likely to be painted on all roads around a business park following complaints of HGVs causing obstructions and parking overnight.
Via East Midlands is consulting on behalf of the highways authority, Nottinghamshire County Council, in respect of complaints centred around Fernwood Business Park.
It is proposed to introduce double yellow lines on both sides of all roads leading to the park — Cross Lane, William Hall Way, and the unnamed road that leads to the new Code Fitness gym.
Via has written to all businesses on the park seeking their views before applying for the restriction.
When dusk falls, lorries can often line Cross Lane beyond the mini-roundabout nearest to the business park, precariously close to junctions, forcing cars on to the wrong side of the road and limiting visibility.
It is a similar story on William Hall Way on the approach to the mini-roundabout there with cars leaving the park forced on to the wrong side of the road, often with little space to rejoin the correct side of the carriageway before joining the roundabout.
The move comes as the new Suthers secondary school is being built opposite to the entrance to Fernwood Business Park.
If approved, the proposals will mean that employees of the firms trading from the park will have nowhere to park on the estate unless their businesses have enough dedicated spaces.
It could also have an affect on the school run for parents when the Suthers School opens next year.
Observations on the proposals were encouraged to be received in writing by November 6.
