Reader's letter: Drains pain
Many years ago the Advertiser featured an article regarding a near £100,000 vehicle that would be used to clear drains and detect any that were damaged or clogged.
I don’t think I have ever seen this vehicle around not only our town but the county.
So why are Nottinghamshire County Council and Via looking to buy new technology when they appear to have not used the previous one very often.
Around this district gutters, and therefore drainage, are blocked. Look around at the road sides and it looks as though our roads and pavements have not been cleared this side of last Christmas.
Just what are staff doing? I know it is the leaf-dropping season but no attempt has been made to clear anything. With leaves you only really need a large powerful vacuum attached to the back of a truck and a hose system. — BRIAN CLARK, Hayside Avenue, Balderton.
