Latest cases from Nottingham Magistrates’ Court, including drivers barred from the roads





A speeding motorist has been fined £1,666 and temporarily banned from driving.

David Clive Oates, 54, of Caythorpe Road, Caythorpe, Nottinghamshire, was convicted by Cornwall Magistrates' Court on May 20.

Oates drove at a speed of over 70mph on the M5 junction 27 overbridge, at Tiverton, Devon, on November 25, 2023.

He was sentenced, in his absence, at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on August 20.

The Audi driver was fined £1,666, and ordered to pay costs of £756.

He was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 14 days.

The case of Jordan Dawson, 28, of Arthur Street, Mansfield, was heard at the court on August 20.

On September 6, 2023, at Newark Police Station, he had failed to give information relating to the identification of a driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

Dawson was fined £120, ordered to pay costs of £138, and had six points added to his licence.

Another speeding motorist has been fined £80 after appearing for sentencing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.

Neil Brown, 45, of Albert Street, Newark, drove a Seat at 50mph on Kings Mill Road/Kirkby Road, Sutton in Ashfield, on August 22, 2023.

The road has a 30mph limit.

Brown appeared at the court on August 16, and changed his previously not guilty plea to guilty.

As well as his fine, he was ordered to pay costs of £117 and had four points added to his licence.

Ford driver Andrew Jamie Gammack, 40, of Brookside Avenue, Mansfield Woodhouse, was sentenced in his absence on August 12 after pleading guilty to speeding on June 13.

He drove on the A6075 Ollerton Road, Edwinstowe, on January 7, at a speed exceeding 30mph.

Gammack was fined £66, ordered to pay costs of £84, and had three points added to his licence.

Also sentenced on August 12 was Laura Danielle Whotton, also known as Laura Danielle Kidby, 41, of Second Avenue, Edwinstowe.

She did not appear in the court.

On October 27 and November 29, 2023, Whotton failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of an Abarth, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

She was fined £660, ordered to pay costs of £354, had six points added to her licence, and was disqualified from driving for six months due to repeat offending.
