Duke of Edinburgh tribute paid by Bennington Carriages, formerly MARTS Coach Builders, Long Bennington

A carriage company has paid tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh, who was known for his love of carriage racing.

The Duke bought a racing carriage from MARTS Coach Builders, now known as Bennington Carriages.

The company, based on Moor Lane, Long Bennington, has held the Royal Warrant to His Royal Highness since 1979 and remembered the Royal fondly as a competitor, judge and steward of carriage racing.

It paid tribute to the royal on its Facebook page, describing him as a driving force for the sport of carriage driving.

Bennington Carriages promotes the sport through its Driving Academy and taster experiences.
