Show goes ahead despite fire at East Bridgford Village Show
Fire crews were called to a village show after a sports pavilion was damaged by fire.
Crews from Carlton and West Bridgford were called to the East Bridgford Village Show just before 9am this morning.
Watch manager Andy Cooper said they were investigating the cause of the incident.
"The fire was very much ablaze when we arrived this morning," he said.
"We have allowed the show to go ahead based on the wind direction for the smoke."
Committee member Simon Christensen said he and the committee were grateful to fire crews and the public who are helping to keep the show running.
"We have had people lifting, carrying and moving stalls all over the place to make sure it goes ahead," he said.
"It's a setback but nobody wanted to cancel a show that has been going for 151 years.
The show has been delayed by an hour, with a parade running through the village from midday.
