Easter parade to church marks the end of term for Archbishop Cranmer pupils
Pupils at Archbishop Cranmer Academy in Aslockton, celebrated the end of term and the approach of Easter with a colourful and musical procession to church with the children in foundation, year one and two proudly wearing their home-made bonnets.
Pupils, staff, parents and members of the local community had an Easter service at St Thomas’ with the vicar, the Rev Tim Chambers.
Pupils sang a selection of traditional and modern worship songs and shared readings from the Bible as well as their own poetry and prayers.
To end the service, year six pupils served tea and hot cross buns to members of the community where they displayed their hand-crafted egg-heads decorated in themes of Easter.
Mrs Melanie Stevens, the school’s head, said, “We each have our part to play in celebrating the life of Jesus and the love of God. It was a joyful service enjoyed by all.”
The older children also took part in a Egg-head competition where they decorated eggs creatively. One of the winners, Oscar (year five) said “We have had lots of fun at school while learning about the Easter story.”
