National Grid Electricity Distribution is reminding East Midlands teachers and community leaders of their free educational resources

The UK’s largest electricity distribution network is reminding teachers and community leaders across the East Midlands about their free resources.

National Grid Electricity Distribution has shared safety messages with more than 19,000 children and young people in the region during more than 1,500 educational sessions.

The educational sessions have taken place at schools, in communities and at various events.

Ellie Patey, NGED community engagement manager, said: “We work with schools and communities across the East Midlands to bring energy to life.

“We are empowering children and young people with knowledge that will keep them safe in their daily lives by understanding electrical safety, as well as inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders.”

Primary school teachers can access an interactive lesson on electrical safety, designed by teachers for teachers.

The ready-to-deliver lesson is linked to the national curriculum, ensuring that electrical safety is taught at an early age.

NGED’s science, technology, engineering and maths outreach and ambassador programme works with schools and youth organisations across the East Midlands to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.

The programme supports young people in a range of green energy challenges, skills workshops and other practical sessions.

Many of these events are led by staff who volunteer their time to take part and share their experience and passion for STEM careers.
