Irresponsble parking leads to concerns about emergency services access at Hoveringham lakes from Newark and Sherwood District council
A council has warned the public about the consequences of irresponsible actions at a popular Nottinghamshire lake after concern from residents.
Hoveringham lakes, home to Notts County Sailing Club, is a popular location during the summer months but Newark and Sherwood District Council have issued a warning to the public, expecting high demand ahead of this weekends 30C and above weather.
In a statement on social media channels the council said: "Throughout the hot weather period there have been numerous calls and complaints regarding the lakes in Hoveringham, relating to parking and swimming.
"The lakes at Hoveringham are private property and anyone who enters the land without the permission of the owner is illegally trespassing."
Nottinghamshire County Council have also placed cones to prevent people from parking irresponsibly along verges and narrow roads in the area, as this results in little or no space for emergency vehicles to safely pass through.
Enforcement action will be taken should anyone park in these areas.
The District council's community protection team is working alongside Nottinghamshire Police to increase patrols in this area.
