Epic Golden Gloves boxer takes on testing #KOCOVID19 challenge to help keep gym open
A young boxer has raised more than £1,000 for her club by completing a demanding set of fitness challenges.
Maisie Donald, 15, who has been training at Epic Golden Gloves for a year, has completed two hours of skip work, three hours of bag work, run 20 miles and a 100 mile cyclem in an attempt to raise money for the Newark gym.
The challenge is part of the #KOCOVID19 fund, an initiative by England Boxing to keep clubs running once the coronavirus lockdown comes to an end.
Esham Pickering, owner and head coach at Epic GG, told England Boxing: “We feel privileged to have Maisie as a member of Epic.
“Her fitness, hard work and desire is second to none in the gym and Maisie’s challenge is an inspiration to others at such an age.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to Maisie and her family for supporting the club and the challenge.
“This will impact greatly on on #KOCOVID19 save our club campaign by helping to ensure our survival and future success.”
Epic GG has benefited from numerous fundraiser while the gym has been closed, with 41 members and supporters helping to raise more than £1,500.
Donald finished the final phase of her challenge — a one mile run and ten mile cycle — on Tuesday, and was supported by England Boxing.
