Exciting new Thurgaton play park plans submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council
Plans have been submitted to build a brand new village play park for families to enjoy.
Thurgarton Parish Council have submitted plans for a change of use from agricultural land to a children's play area and community space, at a field adjacent to Thurgarton Village Hall.
The roughly 1,800 sq metre field, on Bleasby Road, is currently used to graze sheep.
Under the proposals, children's play equipment will occupy about one third of the space and the remainder will be used as a community recreational green space with trees, shrubs, seating area, and picnic tables.
The proposals have been drawn up by Danish playground and outdoor fitness equipment supplier, Kompan Ltd, on behalf of the parish council.
Drawings show a range of play equipment would be provided, including swings, slides, see saws, wooden balance equipment, play netting, and play structures as an ‘enchanted hut’.
A wire perimeter fence is proposed for the boundary of the field alongside hedgerows, and one metre high wooden palisade fencing would surround the play park section of the site.
Access to the site would be provided from the existing village hall car park.
Newark and Sherwood District Council’s planning committee will make the final decision on the application.
