Extra fun run entries welcome
More than 250 people are registered to take part in the first Sunflower Run For Fun in aid of Beaumond House Community Hospice, Newark, on Wednesday.
Fundraising and marketing manager Mr Wil Chung hoped many more would register on the evening.
The event will be held at Newark Showground with registration open from 6.15pm. The fun run is restricted to women and has been organised following the decision by Cancer Research UK not to hold a Race For Life in Newark this year.
Mr Chung said they wanted to keep an element of fun for the event and would be giving prizes for the best fancy dress as well as to those who raised over a certain amount of money.
He said: “This is our first run but I hope this becomes an annual event and eventually reach more than 1,000 participants.”
The run will start at about 7pm. Entry is £10 with everybody taking part receiving a commemorative medal, certificate and goody bag.
Other forthcoming fundraising events include a sponsored bike ride on August 8 and Twenty20 cricket at Newark Cricket Club on August 30.
