Newark Festival 2018 has a new format, including an earlier start time of noon on Saturday.

The first act will go on stage at 1pm, launching an afternoon of entertainment — featuring Kim Wilde, Go West, Nick Heyward, Limahl, and The Fizz — before a headline concert from Marti Pellow in the evening.

The Wet Wet Wet frontman will be supported by special guests Hothouse Flowers.

The previous evening, the festival will get under way with Riverside Rocks, featuring tribute bands to The Who, The Stone Roses, The Rolling Stones and Queen — Who’s Next, The Ultimate Stone Roses, The Rollin’ Clones and Magic Queen.

Newark Festival ends with a free family fun day on Sunday. There will be family activities and entertainment throughout the day, followed by a Swing In The Park evening concert and fireworks finale.

The festival headline partners include Barcode Warehouse, the Newark Advertiser and Water’s Edge Kitchen and Bar, who will be running the Water’s Edge Premier Ticket Enclosure.

Other local businesses sponsoring the event include Gusto Homes, Lincs FM, Newark Beauty Rooms, Duncan & Toplis, Future Prospects, Bakkavor, Inizio, Active4Today, Sherwood YMCA, Kelham House Hotel, and Southwell Racecourse.

Liz Doogan-Hobbs, of LHG Live, said: "What a line-up we have in store for the entire weekend of Newark Festival 2018 — we are going to have a terrific three days at Riverside Park.

"We are thrilled to be working with East Midlands Trains again and are grateful to them for arranging this special late train service, which we are sure many festival-goers will welcome."
