Amber weather warning for extreme heat in Newark issued by Met Office as UK braces for more hot weather
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for extreme heat from this Thursday as temperatures are set to rise again.
With the mercury in Newark forecast to hit as high as 32C over the weekend, the weather warning is in place for the south of England, the Midlands and parts of Wales.
The warning has been issued for four days from Thursday to Sunday, saying that adverse health effects are likely to be suffered by some vulnerable people.
Temperatures are expected to slowly rise from the high 20s, into the the low 30s as the week goes on — but will not reach the record-breaking 40°C temperatures of July.
The news comes amid further warnings from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service not to use disposable barbecues and to properly dispose of cigarettes to avoid the potential for causing wild fires.
Parts of the country are also planning to put water usage restrictions in place for later this month as authorities gear up for possible droughts brought on by this summer's heat waves.
The weather is not set to last as Monday is forecast to bring rain showers, with temperature dropping back down into the low 20s.
