Car parking in Newark is very reasonable at £2 for up to four hours in the Cattle Market car park.

Will £2 really encourage additional people to come to Newark?

After all, just travelling at 60mph on motorways or switching of the engine while stationary would quickly save far more, yet how many motorists do this?

In a climate crisis, with worries about the dangers of air pollution, road safety and rising obesity levels, should the council be subsidising car use?

The cost of this scheme is substantial. I can think of far better uses for this money to boost trade in the town. — N. ROULSTONE, via email.
