Non-profit organisation Gifts from Fairies hosted a fundraising party at Fernwood Village Hall
More than a hundred children will receive Christmas presents this year after thousands of pounds were raised at a fairy party.
Emma Shipstone, who launched Gifts from Fairies in January this year, organised a fundraising party at Fernwood Village Hall at the weekend.
The single mum created the non-profit organisation which delivers gifts to children in need across the country.
More than £2,200 was raised through ticket sales, raffle tickets and selling Fairies for the night and there was £2,800 as a sponsorship from Arnold Clark and Coyne Recruitment.
The evening featured entertainment by singer Jess Dove, and a session with the UK Ambassador for Happiness, Action Jackson.
“The event was a great success and I’m super proud of what we have achieved. I had a great team of volunteers help and I couldn’t have done it without them,” said Emma.
“People danced, had fun, brought selection boxes and Christmas gift wrap for us and we can now do our Christmas campaign to send out present boxes to 106 children with ease, which is awesome.”
Each box includes a Lego or a puzzle, a selection box, at least three books and another gift.
From the money raised, Emma now has over 450 presents to wrap and post or deliver across the country.
