Go Active Falconry, at White Post farm, flying after lockdown rules are lifted

The only falconry centre in the county opened its doors for the first time at the weekend.

Laura Stacey, co-owner of Go Active Falconry, said the feedback surpassed all expectations as visitors of all ages visited their 30 different species of birds of prey.

The centre, based at White Post Farm, Farnsfield, was ready to open in March but coronavirus restrictions saw it postpone its grand opening until Saturday.

“My husband, Simon, has always did falconry as a hobby and we wanted to explore the opportunity of bringing it to the public,” she said.

“It wasn’t until we started working with White Post Farm that we realised how popular it was.

“It seemed like a no-brainer to set up the centre at White Post and we have spent the last 14 months building it, so for it to finally be open is great.

“We were meant to open the weekend of lockdown in March, so opening on Saturday and getting so much lovely feedback was amazing.”

Laura said the next stage of lockdown relaxations would see the falconry launch its flying experience, which they hoped would begin in August.

From Saturday, daily 30-minute flying displays will be launched to keep visitors entertained.
