Half-term activities to take place across Nottinghamshire




As schools depart for the school holiday today (May 24) several family fun-filled half term activities and events take place across Nottinghamshire.

With the weather set to get warmer, Nottinghamshire County Council recommends a set of activities between Saturday (May 25) and Sunday (June 2).

At Rufford Abbey Country Park on May 29 to June 22, there will be an Own Babies experience.

Dedicated to the little ones, it is a story time featuring the Owl Babies tale and after that children will have a up-close experience with a friendly owl companinon.

Ticket cost £8 and all children must be accompanied by a fee-paying adult.

Again at Rufford Abbey Country Park there will be — It’s pink Barbie breakfast — on Friday (May 31) from 9am to 10.30am and from 11.30am to 1pm.

The buffet breakfast comes together with a choice of unlimited tea, coffee or fruit juice.

Families and their children will have the opportunity to meet the iconic doll with the dreamhouse herself.

Tickets vary from £14.75 to £7.25 and children under the age of one enter for free.

Throughout the bank holiday (May 25 to June 2) there will be a £5 school holiday bus ticket, which allows up to two adults and up to three children unlimited day travel on selected Nottsbus Connected services.

The holiday bus tickets extend to the summer holiday between July 27 and September 1 and the October half-term from October 19 and November 3.

Councillor Scott Carlton, cabinet member for Communities and Public Health at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “Nottinghamshire has so many fantastic activities and events to offer this May half term, all of which are suitable for a variety of age groups.

“Whether it’s a day filled with canoeing and zip wire or a trip to one of our scenic country parks, I’ve no doubt that there will be something for everyone to take part in and enjoy.

“Don’t forget to take photos and share your adventures with us on social media by using the hashtag #ExploreNotts. We can’t wait to see what everyone gets up to this school holiday.”.

At the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, there will be an adventure holiday club from May 25 to June 2.

For £49 per child and per day, children will have the opportunity to enjoy an ultimate outdoor adventure such as sky trail, putting on a mini golf course, paddling on the lagoon and racing around on wet or dry assault courses.

At the Mansfield Central Library, there will be taster sessions of rhythm and expression on Saturday (June 1) for free.
