Family fun day in the sun for Newark communities as part of Newark and Sherwood Homes celebration

By Rachel Armitage

Adults and children alike enjoyed a family fun day in the sun at the Bridge Community Centre in Newark.

As part of Newark and Sherwood Homes’ programme of activities to celebrate 100 years of council housing, the event was the final fun day in a series of four across the district.

Others have taken place at Cleveland Square, Bridge Community Centre in Newark, and The Green Community Centre in Bilsthorpe over the past month.

Activities included face painting, music and craft workshops, balloon modelling, a bouncy castle and the chance to explore a fire engine, as well as putting members of the community in the stocks to be splatted with wet sponges.

Lunch was also provided by local sponsors Bakkavor, Maloneys, John Palin and Woodhead Group.
