Farewell NHS

Well, that’s it then. The NHS as we know it is gone forever.

The legislation to open up the NHS to private US corporations is just awaiting Royal Assent — a formality.

Is anyone out there interested or does no one care?

It seems the latter is the case because the government seems to have had an easy ride on this one, as with the previous bill — the Police, Crime and Courts Bill, also just awaiting Royal Assent.

Have you noticed the increasing number of adverts for all manner of private health treatment?

No? Well you can’t have been taking much notice then.

Struggling to get a GP appointment? You ain’t seen nothing yet.

It’s too late to do anything now, but one question: Did our local MP Robert Jenrick vote for this healthcare bill? I know that he voted for the Police Bill. — D. Hall, Newark.
