“The programme is redefining education for students who face challenges in and around all mainstream education settings,” said Steve Lee from Fast Forward Music.
“Specializing in music and DJ tech courses, Fast Forward employs a hands-on approach that not only imparts technical skills but
also fosters confidence, social skills, and enhances educational qualities, particularly in the realm of mathematics.”
Fast Forward were accepted on the Nottinghamshire County Council Alternative Provision (AP) framework in January 2023.
Steve said that the programme began after his own experiences with education and the company realising that there was a need for their services in education.
“I was taken out of school in the early 90s to participate in the home schooling program with a social worker,” said Steve.
“Later, I pursued a career as an international touring DJ, alongside the other members of the Fast Forward Team.
“We are all former touring DJs and producers who came together to open a DJ store with a focus on community engagement.
“We offered open decks and studio sessions to local youths, using our demo booths in-store.
“Recognising the positive impact we were making, we closed down the store and transitioned Fast Forward into a fully accredited Alternative Provision.”
The organisation offers several courses from a 13 week certificate to a year long diploma vocational qualification.
