Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service shortlisted for five awards in Excellence in Fire and Emergency Awards 2024

The county’s fire service has been shortlisted for five awards — including Emergency Service Of The Year.

Teams and individuals from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have been recognised at this years' Excellence in Fire and Emergency (EFE) Awards.

As well as it’s nomination for the Emergency Service Of The Year award — which is awarded to an emergency service which has ‘demonstrated a significant difference to fire and emergency performance’ through means such as an improved emergency response or significant advancements in improving the lives of the community — Nottinghamshire’s service has also been nominated in four other categories.

These include: the corporate communications team in the Team Of The Year category, the service development centre team as Training Provider Of The Year, business safety advocate Sophie Winterbottom as Most Influential LGBTQIA+ Individual In Fire, and former Chief Fire Officer John Buckley for Outstanding Contribution To The Fire and Rescue Service.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Excellence in Fire and Emergency Awards, and the ceremony will be held in London on Friday, December 6.

Chief Fire Officer Craig Parkin said: "I am extremely proud of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service for this national recognition. So much hard work has gone on within our service especially in the past year, including being rated 'good' in our latest HMICFRS Inspection, and receiving these five nominations is a great end to an amazing year.

"These nominations are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Service, and indeed, it reflects our commitment to keeping our communities safe."

Fire knowledge director Christine Hicks said: “We are delighted to be holding our tenth anniversary Fire and Emergency Awards, an event which has taken its place as a nationally recognised celebration of achievements within the fire and emergency services. Every year we receive incredible nominations that recognise the hard work and commitment of these services and individuals, and applauding these at the awards ceremony in December is a very special occasion.”
