Newark, Bingham, Tuxford and Edwinstowe fire stations open for businesses to drop off PPE donations

Fire stations across Nottinghamshire are open for businesses to drop off donations of personal protective equipment (PPE).

They include Newark, Bingham, Tuxford and Edwinstowe.

It is part of the #ppe4nhs campaign, which was set up five weeks ago to encourage companies to donate spare stocks of PPE to the NHS and key workers.

Items could include disposable aprons, fluid resistant face masks, nitrile gloves, medical gowns/coveralls, and hand sanitiser.

Group manager for prevention, Andy Macey, said: “The service is already working hard to give back and support the community, including the NHS and key workers. This is just another small addition to what the service can do to contribute in these challenging times.

“We encourage businesses from across Nottinghamshire to get in touch with #ppe4nhs to donate."

To donate items, businesses must first contact #ppe4nhs by emailing ppe4nhs@hotmail.com to arrange a time to take them to the most local drop-off centre.

A strict process is in place at each drop-off centre to meet government guidelines.

Spearheaded by Martin Rigley, #ppe4nhs started in Ashfield and has now spread across the whole of Nottinghamshire, and over the border into Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire.

More than 58,000 items have already been donated in Nottinghamshire.
