The Auction Room Hansons Newark opened its doors to the public last weekend
A new auction room opened its doors for its first-ever live auction after months of ‘hard work’.
The Auction Room, replacing the former Northgate Auctions, welcomed a full saleroom on Saturday (July 5).
Earlier this year, Charles Hanson — star of Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip — took over the auction venue and rebranded it before reopening over the weekend.
Visitors to the site got to witness and take part in a live auction, which started at 10am, either by bidding in person, online or over the phone.
Charles Hanson said: “After months of hard work by the Newark team, it was great to welcome everyone to the saleroom.
“In a city so rich in history, the enthusiasm and support of the local community helped make this a great occasion, and we can build on this for the future.”
In addition to the auction, visitors were treated to the grand opening of The Corner Farm Kitchen, which quickly became a hub of activity, with the venue packed all day, from morning until close.
The café serves fresh, locally-grown food produced by people from the area.
The day also marked the much-anticipated reopening of Memory Lane Antiques — The Barn, now housed within The Auction Room, Hanson’s Newark, after relocating from Southwell.
Every month, the auction house will be hosting online antique and collectables auctions and in-person Fine Art and Antiques sales.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone to our next auction on Saturday, August 2,” added Charles.
