Five-home application on The Ropewalk, Southwell, submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council rejected over fears of backland development

An application for five homes in a busy area was rejected over fears it was backland development.

The plan, for overgrown land on The Ropewalk, Southwell, was submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council after permission for two houses for the site had already been denied at committee and appeal.

Common criticisms included the proposal being over-intensive and having an impact on the privacy of neighbouring properties.
