Flood-hit garden at Meadow Farm, Broadings Lane, Laneham, back in bloom this Sunday (August 16)

A garden that took four years to create from scratch, only to be devastated by flooding in February, is open to the public this Sunday.

The garden at Meadow Farm, Broadings Lane, Laneham, used to be a one-acre field full of children’s playground equipment from the owner’s business.

When she retired she decided to create a garden on the site, which was accepted to open for the Nottinghamshire National Garden Scheme for this year.

Disaster struck in February when a beck in the village flooded and the whole garden was under water for weeks.

Julie Davison of the National Garden Scheme said: “It was a terrible experience and one which no garden owner would want.

“Today the garden looks astonishing with lush, healthy looking plants everywhere. It is very hard to imagine that the lovely garden was ever under water and that is testament to the hard work and determination of the garden owners who have worked tirelessly to salvage their garden.”

Tickets must be booked in advance at www.ngs.org.uk under Midlands gardens.

The garden is dog friendly.
