RHP Colts footballer score Christmas donation for The Salvation Army
Young footballers have given away new toys this Christmas as part of an initiative by RHP Colts.
The football club has been collecting toys and presents for disadvantaged children in the Newark area.
One of the organisers, Zak Edlin, who also coaches the under-13 age group, said everybody at the club got behind the project. Jeff Peel also helped organise the event.
“We are supporting children who might not able to get presents this Christmas, families who can’t provide for whatever reason or children in homes,” said Zak.
“It is right the way through the club — everybody has got involved.
“We have presents from six year olds all the way up to teenagers.”
The club amassed two caravans full of toys and dropped them off at the The Salvation Army in Newark.
“We aren’t just a football club, we are here to help the community as well,” said Zak.
Gas Direct also donated £200 to the cause, which was spent on gifts by the football club.
