A 72-year-old man was cleared of historical rape and indecent assault charges against a child on a majority verdict, after a trial lasting six days.

The jury at Nottingham Crown Court failed to reach a decision on another three counts of indecent assault levelled against Eugene Lovett.

Mr Lovett, of Grove Street, Balderton, a former window cleaner, faced eight charges in respect of a young girl during the 1980s.
