We went along to a Halloween scarefest at a former Boots warehouse — James Alexander Warehouse — at The Island Quarter in Nottingham

I jumped, screamed and even laughed as I ventured out to a Halloween scare maze at a warehouse dating back to the 1800s.

As Halloween approaches, we want to share the best and spookiest events in the area with our readers, so we went along to the Outbreak Scarefest in Nottingham on Sunday (October 13).

The interactive Halloween pop-up experience is without a doubt an experience, one of who can scream the loudest and run the fastest.

The warehouse was a former Boots main research, production, and storage facility, giving us the perfect opportunity to explore a building that we were always curious about but also to get a good jump scare before the start of a new week.

We arrived at the warehouse and we were welcomed by the army, which got us even more excited with how serious and professional it was, and we were immediately transported into the scene which was based around a chemical outbreak at a secret scientific test facility.

I will be honest, for anyone who is a thrill seeker or just loves a good adventure, this is the perfect event.

I never thought I would still leave the experience with a racing heartbeat and still laughing at my screaming boyfriend.

We were the first ones to enter the maze, with me in second as I like a human shield as I was forced into the unknown.

Following the chemical outbreak story, the infected inhabitants were quick to surprise us, awaiting at every corner and when you least expected it, adding some life to the dark environment but also making me feel more alive than ever with every surprise.

At one point, one of the infected came so close to me talking about how the doctor would want my eyes that I felt like I was doing gymnastics ducking and diving trying to escape.

Every single time I thought I had time to look around and learn more about the building, BOOM, a new type of crazy would bump into us.

We were taken through two mazes when exploring and there was also a third room, but this one wasn’t available due to technical difficulties.

One of the most exciting and scary things about attending a scarefest is definitely the surprise element, from the scenario to the live actors, it was a 10/10 score from me.

To end it on a good note, there are attractions and food stalls just outside, ready to add some more adrenaline and warm up visitors as temperatures go down.

We will be going again on Thursday to see what the third room is all about — I only hope I manage to recover my voice in time and not become one of the scary inhabitants.

The experience which started on October 12 will run for three weeks from 5pm until 10pm on weekdays, and 2pm to 10pm on weekends.

A special family-friendly experience will be created for families with children on the Saturday and Sunday dates from 2pm to 5p
