Epperstone’s George Gamble to compete in tPorsche Carrera Cup GB Championship




Epperstone’s George Gamble is to compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship, reports Paul Horton.

George’s big announcement came last week as he tested his new 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992 race car at Oulton Park for the first time.

The car will be run by Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport — one of the leading sports cars and GT racing teams in the UK with more than 27 years’ experience. They were 2023 champions in the Porsche series.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Century Motorsport this season, and to be involved with Rosland Gold Racing this year in a premier championship such as Porsche Carrera Cup GB is an exciting challenge ahead” said Gamble.

“I’ve known Nathan throughout the years in the TOCA paddock and have full confidence in him and the team going into this season.

“I feel like I have unfinished business in the championship after coming third in 2019, but I’m out to better that this year in my return to the championship”.

The move from the last two seasons in touring cars will be like going back in time for Gamble but in a good way — he was a previous Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship series runner up and knows the cars and the circuits they will race on.

With a wealth of experience and talent Gamble blasted the Porsche championship for two seasons during 2018 and 2019.

He finished his first season of 2018 in sixth, completing 16 races with three wins.

He went on to better that in 2019 finishing third in Pro category, out of 15 races he won four and took to the podium ten times and took part in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in a support race at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone the same year.

The last two seasons in the BTCC have shown Gamble’s dynamic talent, his impressive achievements in touring cars and well rooted driving ability will bring a unique perspective and a winning mentally to Rosland Gold Racing.

The team will run two cars in the series with a second car driven by Will Burns, who has also previously demonstrated his skill and determination across various racing series, including a British GT Championship GT4 title in 2021 with Century Motorsport.

The season will feature 16 rounds of the single marque racing championship, with a full grid of the fastest one make series in the UK.

The Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship starts at Donington Park on April 27-28

All rounds will be televised live on ITV4.
