A man who used encrypted files in an attempt to hide child abuse images had left Nottinghamshire at the time he was gaoled, the Advertiser has been asked to make clear.

Jonathan Hipkiss (41) was sentenced to 12 months in prison after police experts accessed complicated virtual computer drives to reveal the images.

He admitted 15 counts of making indecent images of children, three counts of possession of indecent images of children and one offence under section 53 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, after he refused to give the relevant computer passwords.

His family were unaware of what he was doing and his marriage disolved at the time his wife found out.
