Newark and Sherwood District Council approve plans for 2-bedroom bungalow in Walesby

The demolition of garages to make way for the construction of a residential property has been approved.

Newark and Sherwood District Council approved its own application for the development off Manor Close, Walesby.

It included the demolition of five garages.

In its place will be built a two-bedroom bungalow with two parking spaces and a private garden.

The application received objections from the Walesby Parish Council and neighbours.

The parish council's major concern was that most affordable houses in the village were two-bedroom, which makes young couples looking to start a family move away from the village.

Five letters were received from neighbours with objections over a loss of parking spaces, noise and dust, and cars parking on the road to block access to the street.

Near to the site is a 20th Century farm and a conservation area, but it was concluded that the development would have no impact on its character or appearance.
