Generations unite as hundreds of residents mark official opening of village hall
Hundreds of residents got together to mark the official opening of Carlton-le-Moorland Village Hall.
A ribbon was cut by Mrs Joyce Close and Hannah Kirsopp.
Mrs Close, who has lived in the village all her life, represented the older generation, and Hannah, who supported the hall fundraising activities, represented the younger people of the village.
They also cut a celebration cake, made by resident Maxine Clark.
Parish council chairman Jeremy Hutchinson unveiled a plaque after praising those involved in the building of the new hall, and thanked the fundraising group that raised more than £20,000.
Money also came from the Young People’s Trust, FCC/WREN, and the National Lottery.
Mr Hutchinson said everyone was delighted with the new hall and its facilities, and congratulated architects Evolution Design and building contractors Carmalor.
He also thanked councillors for their commitment to the project and their hard work over seven years.
Keith Smith, of the fundraising group, was master of ceremonies and the Over The Hill band entertained.
