Balderton Guides group comes together for virtual camp
Guides were determined to hold their annual camp, despite the coronavirus pandemic — so took the adventure online.
Sixteen girls from 2nd Balderton Guides took part in the virtual event over the weekend, completing usual camp activities from home.
Unit leader Georgia Travers said: “A fab weekend was had by all. It was fantastic to see the girls so eager to get involved and we loved to see the parents getting so involved in the activities as well.
We tried to follow a similar structure to a normal Guide camp. We hope that all girls had fun and learnt or tried something new over the weekend.
“We can’t wait to take the unit camping in real life soon and put their new skills to good use.”
The Guides took part in a range of tasks, including building rollercoasters from marbles, making obstacle courses, and having camp-fires, complete with smores.
In the spirit of their normal camp, the Guides also slept outside in their gardens.
The group is yet to return to in-person meetings, however, they hope to see each other again in the near future.
“We’re hoping to return to face to face nights soon,” said Georgia.
