Girlguiding Nottinghamshire continues online despite coronavirus

Face-to-face meetings of Girlguiding Nottinghamshire groups have been suspended with covid-19, but this hasn't stopped members of all ages getting involved in exciting activities.

Jackie Brocklehurst, county commissioner, said Girlguiding had a long history of continuing despite adversity.

"During this period we have continued to make contact with all of our members and volunteers," she said. "Activities have taken place online, virtually and by email.

"Our Adventures at Home program is available to all young people not just our members, which can be accessed at www.girlguiding.org.uk/what-we-do/adventures-at-home/

"We even had a virtual festival the other week and we have just launched our Midlands celebrate challenge.

"We are looking forward to getting back to our unit meetings but only when it is safe and appropriate to do so. We are closely monitoring the government advice."

Members from all sections have been encouraged to wear their uniform during the weekly Clap for Carers, under the hashtag #uniformforuniforms.

Girlguiding Nottinghamshire has put together a thank you video to express their gratitude to our NHS staff and keyworkers keeping the country going, which can be found at shorturl.at/prxHI

As part of Volunteers Week, members would also like to thank all those who offer their help with Girlguiding.
