Former Barnby Road Infants’ School pupil finds old beret more than 50 years later and passes it on to her Newark granddaughter

More than 50 years after last donning her primary school beret, a grandmother has unearthed the headgear and passed it on to her granddaughter.

Julie Ker, 62, was a pupil at Barnby Road Infants’ School, Newark, as it was then known.

When she was looking for assorted hats for her granddaughter, Jemima, 2, to try on, she came across her old school beret.
