A grant of £200 is to be given to Newark Carnival by the town council towards the cost of promoting it.
Members of the finance and general purposes committee were told yesterday that it was the carnival’s fourth year and would involve 1,000 people in the parade.
The event is normally watched by about 5,000.
This year the carnival will be held on July 4.
