Newark and District Round Table promotes its man creche facility
A male-only voluntary club is promoting a ‘man creche’ to entice new members to leave their houses and expand their social circles.
Newark and District Round Table is inviting bored men aged 18 to 45 to come along to make friends and attend events – and get out of the hair of their partners.
Members meet every fortnight for activities, food and drink or charity events at several clubs around the district, including in Newark.
The name man creche aims to capture new members' attention, as does the cheeky tagline: “Is he getting under your feet? Why not leave him with us. We’ll look after him.”
The male-only club meets up for events such as axe throwing, rifle shooting, giant Scalextric, canoeing and dodgeball.
Newark Round Table is known for its annual Santa Sleigh among its other charity work.
Daniel Otton, a representative from the group, said: “We are a club of young guys, and we noticed that a lot of men are looking at things to do, might be a bit bored or have recently moved to the area.
“We offer them a place where people can come and get away from their day-to-day, meet new people and expand their social circle.”
People who are interested in becoming a member of the man creche can message Newark and District Round Table on its Facebook page.
