Girlguiding Nottinghamshire raise the roof as giant choir at Albert Hall, Nottingham




Over 300 youngsters hit the high notes recently, as part of one huge choir.

Members of Girlguiding Nottinghamshire, from the Rainbow (four to seven years), Brownie (seven to 10 years) and Guide (10 to 14 years) sections, as well as Rangers and young leaders (14 to 18 years) met at the Albert Hall in Nottingham city centre on Sunday, June 30 as part of the Ginormous Choir.

They were supported by over 100 adult volunteers who also joined in the fun.

During the day, members songs from the Greatest Showman, the Lion King, Wonka ans more, before performing them in front of family and friends at the end of the day.

The event was run in conjunction with Music for Everyone, a Nottingham based charity who are committed to making a difference to people’s lives through the creativity and enjoyment of music.

Emily, a Guide from Southwell, said that her favourite part was “that we all came together from across the different parts of the county,” while Taya, a Ranger, said: “I liked that the songs were chosen to cover a whole range of ages and that there was something for everyone.”

Their favourite songs were ‘This is me’ and ‘Whole New World’.

Kirstie Pogson, county commissioner for Girlguiding Nottinghamshire, said: “We are very proud of our young members. They have all worked so hard and they sound amazing.”
