Kate Victoria Hair and Beauty on 33-35 Cartergate, Newark set to move to 42 Cartergate, home to former Aces Tattoo Studio

A much-loved hair salon is preparing for a new chapter as it plans to relocate just a few doors down the street at the end of the month.

Kate Victoria Hair and Beauty, currently based at 33-35 Cartergate, will soon be moving into number 42 — the former home of Aces Tattoo Studio.

The move marks an exciting expansion for the independent business, which first opened its doors in April 2022.

The owner, Kate Richardson, said the decision to relocate came as the building’s lease was set to end this year, and she was looking to downsize as the current building has a lot of empty space.

The new space will still offer the same services and cosy atmosphere that clients are used to.

She said: “It’ll look the same as here, and we’re making it just as cosy.

“It’s going to be a lot better as the footfall over there is better too.”

The new salon will feature two stations downstairs alongside a bigger waiting area, and upstairs it will have four stations and three basins.

Clients have been reassured that the new space, while different, will maintain the quality they’re used to.

The owner added: “Every client that’s been in here, I’ve shown them that it’s just through the arch, closer to town.

“We’ve even had 30 people walk by in just 15 minutes when I was over there painting.”

One of the things that Kate is proud of is her complimentary drinks menu, which changes according to the season.

Throughout the month of June, to celebrate the move, Kate will be offering free hair treatments to anyone going into the salon for hair work, as it proved to be very popular during the salon’s anniversary in April.

As the business grows, the salon is currently recruiting for two senior self-employed stylists and a Saturday assistant.
