Hall scheme put forward
Plans have been submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council for the redevelopment of Ollerton Hall.
An application seeking full planning permission for single storey extensions to provide additional nursing home accommodation was submitted by Mr Kevin Pullan, of Broomhall Street, Sheffield.
A separate application for listed building consent has also been made.
The district council issued a 28-day temporary stop order in April because work by the developer, Pullan Developments, did not comply with permission granted for the Sue Ryder development in 1989.
The permission was still valid because work had started but not finished.
The council started legal proceedings against Mr Pullan for an alleged breach of this notice.
Mr Pete Wilkinson, the council’s planning services manager, said: “New plans regarding the alterations to the hall will be dealt with in due course.”
A design and access statement, submitted by the developer, said the importance of the grade two star listed buildings was fully recognised and the visual impact of any changes from the approved scheme must be sympathetic.
It said amendments to the internal layout of the extensions did not affect the setting of the listed building.
It said the floor level height adjustment to prevent flooding was offset by a reduction in ridge height.
The document said the proposed use of the site as a residential nursing care home would provide 36 full and part-time jobs including nursing, care, kitchen and laundry staff.
It said residential care homes were recognised as an important resource in any community and were considered to be good neighbours.
It said the proposed amendments, which were made as a result of new standards that required the provision of ensuite bathrooms, would result in a home offering better facilities for residents.
It said the main single storey extension was redesigned to accommodate 23 bedrooms with service areas, lounges and circulation space.
It said the extensions to the front of the hall were external exactly as existing approval and the inside rearranged to provide the main kitchen and laundry areas and a separate day care area.
It said the extensions were linked to the main hall to ensure interaction between all areas.
The main hall will retain a reception and waiting area and the main staircase.
There will be terraced areas overlooking the grounds and the open land beyond the River Maun.
The revised proposals reduce the on-site parking, which it says enhances the setting, reduces the perceived adverse affect of carparking on the hall, but still retains adequate parking provision.
It said new standards in the care industry meant the details previously approved were no longer compliant by modern day standards.
It said there was a need for such a care home in the Ollerton area.
