Norwell residents make Christmas hamper to raise money for Beaumond House Hospice Care
Homemade treats are among goodies in a Christmas hamper being filled by a group of villagers to raise money for Beaumond House Hospice Care.
The hamper is being put together by Norwell residents to raffle for the charity, which has seen a significant drop in its income because of the limitations put on fundraising events by coronavirus.
The Norwell hamper is the latest fundraising effort by a group of village women.
So far this year they have raised more than £1,000 for St Laurence’s Church in the village, with a takeaway strawberry tea and a takeaway harvest supper, which proved popular in Norwell and beyond.
Raffle tickets are £1 each from Brenda’s Village Store, where the draw will be made on Friday, December 18, at noon.
The shop is also selling Christmas cards in aid of Beaumond House.
Cathy Lowe, from Beaumond House, said: “Brenda has been a loyal supporter of the hospice for several years and we are very grateful for the generous contribution she gives.”
Brenda Thomas, with the help of village friends Hilary Ward, Georgina Gamble, Janet McGill and Lorraine Pilgrim, have put together the hamper with donations from Waitrose, Morrisons, Maloneys of Tuxford and Ann et Vin of Newark.
They are also baking a Christmas cake and a pudding to complete the hamper.
