Musical The Official Take That Musical Greatest Day is on at Theatre Royal Nottingham until Saturday
Theatre Royal Nottingham welcomes you to an emotional play that highlights the power of music and friendship.
The Official Take That Musical – Greatest Day – is at the theatre until Saturday, September 9 and celebrates the 30th anniversary of Take That’s first ever UK number single single, Pray.
The two-hour musical features over 15 record-breaking songs alongside a heart-warming story of loss, love, friendship and dreams.
The musical tells the story of a group of five best friends in the 1990s who are crazy about a boy band.
It shows how life changes with the blink of an eye for that group of friends, dreams are forgotten, and healing is long but not impossible.
The story sees friendships being tested after a tragic incident happens which sees the group give up on one another and move apart.
All changes 25 years later, when Rachel, performed by actress, singer, dancer and businesswoman Jennifer Ellison, wins a competition to see the boyband in Athens, and who does she invite? The girls, who she has no idea what they look like or what they are doing. The only thing left is the longing and last words of future lives.
From start to finish, there is never a dull moment to look at the watch and think how long is left, it is energetic, awakening, intense, emotional and a throwback to all the boyband fans.
The story written by Tim Firth and directed by Stacey Haynes and Tim Firth is timeless, a story that touches hearts and minds despite time and age.
I have watched many good theatres, but none has filled me with tears like this one. Everywhere I looked I could see people wiping their faces and that is when I knew that a play is worth recommending, when it touches not only a heart but a soul. – MT
