Historic Newark in Bloom and Trent Link group to hold community litter pick in Newark along River Trent this Saturday, October 19
Residents are invited to help clean up Newark’s riverside this weekend during a community litter pick.
This Saturday (October 19), Historic Newark in Bloom and the Trent Link group will be holding a litter pick in an effort to tidy up the the town’s waterways and reduce pollution.
On top of this the volunteers plan to remove weeds and replant areas to improve the appearance of the riverside and make Newark a more attractive place to visit.
The group will be setting off from Newark Lock, near the Swan and Salmon pub, at 10am and working their way north along the banks of the River Trent throughout the day.
Anyone interested in taking part and can spare a couple of hours is asked to simply turn up and help out.
Litter picking equipment will be supplied by Newark and Sherwood District Council, however, participants are asked to bring their own trowel and gloves if possible to help with the weeding.
