Curry’s customer repair centre team at Newark nominated for Community Heroes award
A customer repair centre team has been nominated for an award after raising more than £200,000 for charity.
Curry’s team in Newark was nominated to the 2023 Community Heroes award on behalf of Retail Week.
Team raised more than £30,000 for charity in 2022 taking it to over £200,000 collected during the past four years.
The team has made a positive impact with fundraising activities, from skydiving to walking a million steps.
Some members of the team also drove 22 hours to the Polish to Ukraine border to help those affected by the war to deliver donations of clothing and medical supplies to a value of £6,000.
The award aims to put the spotlight on staff who have gone above and beyond their day jobs to help local people through challenging times.
Simon Hodgson, part of the repair centre management team in Newark, said: “Regardless of the outcome, the impact and lives changed by all the hard work is remarkable and the team should be incredibly proud.
“It really showcases the team spirit we have in Newark and colleagues here are always eager to support our local community. Best of luck to everyone involved”.
Other charities supported by the team donations and fundraising include Beaumond House Hospice Care, the Children’s Bereavement Centre, You Can Do Sport, Nottinghamshire Guide Dogs, Hope House School, the Salvation Army, the Halfway House Dog Rescue and Afghani refugees.
The Newark team got to name a Labrador puppy, Coco, who they sponsored as she trains to become a guide dog for Nottinghamshire Guide Dogs.
The Community Heroes award will be presented at the Retail Week awards on March 30.
