Nottinghamshire Police arrest hit and run suspect following serious collision on Northgate in Newark which left woman in hospital




Police have arrested a suspect while investigating a serious crash which left a woman in hospital.

Emergency services were called to Northgate, Newark, shortly after 11pm on Sunday night following a collision involving several cars.

A woman travelling in one of the cars remains in hospital with serious injuries. Another man was treated in hospital and later released.

Several parked cars were also damaged near the junction of Northgate with Meyrick Road.

A 20-year-old man was arrested this morning (July 25) on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

Detective constable Megan Tyson, said: “This was a very serious collision and I am pleased we have now been able to arrest a suspect.

“As our investigation continues, our thoughts remain with the people who were injured in this incident.”
