Homes burgled
Homeowners in Southwell are being asked to look out for their neighbours after a spate of burglaries.
Between Saturday and Monday, thieves attacked five properties while residents were on holiday.
In an attempt to reduce the number of break ins, local officers are asking anyone who is planning to go away to contact them to ensure extra patrols are put in place.
Sergeant Brendan Hunt, of the Southwell neighbourhood policing team, said: “Getting a family member, a friend or neighbour, to keep an eye on your property while you are on holiday can make a significant difference.
“No one wants to come home to find a stranger has been inside and taken personal items.
“Community spirit and vigilance helps ensure quick action from the police, which in turn increases the chance of an offender being caught.”
Anyone with any information about Southwell burglaries is asked to contact the Safer Neighbourhood Team on 0300 300 9999 extension 809 7671 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
To inform the Safer Neighbourhood Team of any planned holidays, call on the above number, email sherwoodsnt@nottinghamshire.pnn.police.uk, or pop into the police station.
