Lowdham Horticultural Society’s summer show hailed a ‘huge success’

Despite inclement weather the day before, a popular summer show saw a “fantastic turnout” as the sun shone down.

Lowdham Horticultural Society’s 131st annual summer show was held on Bank Holiday Monday (August 26) at Lowdham Village Hall and playing fields, with classes.

As well as performances from the Nottingham Concert Band and the Dako Flying Angels Display, there was also a Punch & Judy show, duck race, stalls, an auction, and plenty of food and drink.

Up next in the society’s calendar is their Autumn Festival, set to take place on Sunday October 23 at Lowdham village hall between 11am and 2pm.

Show secretary Anne Cross said that the show was “really successful”: “We had a great turn-out, and we seemed to be busier than usual.

“The marquee looked beautiful and we had a good amount of entries, so it was a really good day and the weather was kind to us.”
