Beaumond House Community Hospice to re-open Southwell shop on Saturday (July 11)
Charity Beaumond House Community Hospice is to re-open its shop in Southwell on Saturday.
It is hoped to have the shops in Newark and Collingham open by early August.
All three — which provide significant contributions towards the hospice’s work — were forced to close on March 21 in line with government guidance.
Gary White, retail manager at Beaumond House, said; “Although the lost income is critical to us we remain committed to ensuring that we do not open our shops until we have provisions and processes in place to keep customers, volunteers and colleagues safe.
“We are now confident to move forward by re-opening our Southwell shop as part of a phased re-opening.
“The shop will re-open for the first day’s trading on Saturday, July 11, from 9.30am to 2.30pm and we look forward to welcoming customers back to a very different looking but safe shop.
“We expect to be opening for two days a week initially, but this will gradually increase over the next few weeks until we are back to a normal trading pattern.
“The most important thing for us is that we present a safe trading environment for both our customers, staff and volunteers.
“We are pleased to be making this step forward as it means we will once again begin to generate vital income. However, we are even more pleased to be moving forward safely.”
Customers will see how the now-familiar signage, floor markings, hand sanitiser and till screens.
The shop will also now be able to take card payments.
Beaumond House assures customers that all donations will have been isolated for a minimum of 72 hours before their usual processing and presentation for sale.
To further ensure that the shops are protecting everyone’s safety, the charity will not be accepting any donations directly into the shops.
