Newark Hospital Dementia Care Appeal hits its target
An appeal to raise £105,000 for work to the Sconce Ward at Newark Hospital has reached its target.
The Newark Hospital Dementia Care Appeal was launched in the spring of 2017.
Since then a series of fundraising events have been held, including a charity disco, fun runs, raffles and cake sales.
The appeal also benefited from money raised by the former Mayor of Newark, Mrs Rita Crowe, when she was in office.
The money will be used to enhance the patient environment on Sconce Ward with a particular focus on facilities and additions to help patients who have dementia.
Work is due to start on Monday.
The director of strategic planning and commercial development at Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust, Mr Peter Wozen-croft, said the board wanted to thank the Newark community for their continued support to get to the target.
“We are truly grateful for the support received for the project from the Friends Of Newark Hospital and the Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity,” he said.
“It has been brilliant to see people come together and fundraise for a great cause which will benefit our patients.
“I am looking forward to seeing the project begin and progress over the next few months.”
